If It's Planned, It's Possible: Preparing for a New Era at Myers Park Covenant

by Tim Moore on November 01, 2026

Dear Myers Park Covenant Church,

If it’s planned, it’s possible.

Dozens and dozens of people in this congregation have been doing amazing work this year as we have moved into a final phase of our transition period—the nesting phase, getting things ready for receiving a new permanent pastor and launching ourselves into a new era.

This year, we have approved and implemented Bylaw changes, reshaped our deacons and ministry structures. We changed our name, overwhelmingly selecting Myers Park Covenant Church over other options. A new logo and tagline have been chosen. New signage is starting to be hung, and a new website is nearing completion. Our Senior Minister Search Committee has been hard at work and anticipates bringing a candidate to the church soon. A half-dozen dedicated volunteers have been trained to teach Godly Play, a Montessori based children’s Sunday School curriculum. Dane Jordan and a youth team have been ministering to our teenagers and this summer we celebrated the baptisms of Lucy Pearsall and Jessmark Garcia. Dozens of volunteers have been cleaning up the church building, clearing out cluttered rooms, and renovating the library into a living archival space for the church. MOJO and our Sage-ing Group have expanded their ministries. We restarted Wednesday night suppers with a plan to hold monthly gatherings focused on intergenerational programming.  Saturday, October 17th, we celebrate life on our campus with a Fall Festival.

As amazing as this year has been, it is a prelude to 2027 when our congregation welcomes a new Senior Minister. There is a new enthusiasm in our congregation. Sunday morning worship is a joyous occasion. For this trajectory to continue, though, we must invest in the future. If we pledge our gifts and plan our ministry, 2027 can truly be a transformative year in the life of this congregation.

Please review the enclosed material: a commitment card and return envelope, a way to commit online, ways in which your gifts will be used, and a giving path for the future. Begin considering how you will be involved in our community life next year, how you will participate in our congregation, give your financial gifts towards our budget, and offer your talents for our ministries and programs. Dedication Sunday will be November 15th.

If it’s planned; it’s possible.

With appreciation,

Rev. Dr. F. Timothy Moore
Interim Senior Minister
